Fruit of Thy Womb, 2018
The final project for Tim’s Bachelor’s Arts degree in Drama offered up a unique opportunity to create a piece of political art to affect the voting population. The stories of those with uteruses in Ireland is intrinsically linked to the history of the Catholic Church and its rule over Irish life and the role the state plays in foisting religion on a nation that refuses to sit idly by. A contemporary retelling of the stages of the cross allowed the players a backdrop on which to analyse the patriarchal power-play present in daily Irish life. The performance itself took place as a walking tour, the audience being led from one scene to the next, culminating in the ultimate sacrifice: the bodies of those who are most at risk being offered up to the nation to decide their fate with the casting of a ballot. Fruit of Thy Womb was an analytical applied drama piece made in conjunction with a fantastic team of players, and was directed and organised between theatremaker Saoirse Anton and Tim Leech-Cleary.
Graphic design by Tim Leech-Cleary, codirected and cowritten by Tim Leech-Cleary and Saoirse Anton.

TAC, 2017
The contemporary theatre viewer in Ireland is no longer the layman. Those who can afford to go to the theatre on a regular basis are patrons, they are elderly, and they use the theatre as a cultural token to show that they are part of an elite class, all while caring little for the art they see. TAC was an experimental piece of art, an event where ultimately nothing happens; the aim of the piece was to see if a single audience member could be forced to leave without being told to do so. The piece saw little to nothing happening on stage, with a confusing array of sounds being played from the speakers, and the television at the centre of it playing a series of vaguely political images. Unfortunately due to the Players Theatre's strict running times, the entire 90 minute piece could not be performed, however, the director felt that this left an opportunity for an explosive ending.
TAC was performed in the Players Theatre Dublin, as a part of the first Players Fringe Festival, conceived and directed by Tim Leech-Cleary, sound design by Susie Birmingham, with assistance from Oscar O’Leary Fitzpatrick. Performed by Lisa Nally and Clíodhna Kelly.
Guest Host
Tim was recently featured on the Midnight Memories Podcast as a guest host alongside his friends Oscar O’Leary Fitzpatrick, and Nathanael O’Leary. The trio were told they could make up a game for the guests and hosts to play, and they took the opportunity to create a pseudo-RPG where the hosts play as three members of One Direction as they tried to reach the stage before the memories of all their fans were wiped from existence. Madness ensued.
Advertising for Chat Shit Podcast
During his downtime, Tim likes to fill his days with fun experiments in art and design. Friends of Tim, Allie Whelan and Lisa Nally, have begun their journey into the podcasting world with the Chat Shit Podcast, and in their honour he produced a small, fake, mid-roll advertisement. Based in an imagined apocalyptic future, only the bravest will survive. The question that follows is thus; are you prepared?
